Non-sectarian work
Prof. Nair’s translation is of such excellence, beauty and scholarship that it inspires great admiration and reverential respect.
A praiseworthy feature of this book is that Prof. Nair has not watered down the devotional tone of the original in any way. Through the use of noble language, a noble tone and noble style, and by devoting great care and attention to the choice and arrangement of words, he has been able to maintain an atmosphere of profound reverence and respect for that which is ever present as ‘one whole’ in every one of us and in the universe – and which is what is truly holy.
Another great merit of Prof. Nair’s Bhagavad Gita is that it is a non-sectarian work. It does not champion the superstitious beliefs of any particular religious group – or the fanatical posturing of false rationalists. Nor does it side with or argue in favour of the pet theories of any of the classical commentators. And it goes to his credit that Prof. Nair has not allowed the translation to be coloured by his own likes and dislikes, either. This is indeed a work of pure spirituality sans superstition as well as of pure rationality sans delusion – a work that follows only the path of prudence-dictated dharma, the path of sacred duty, taught by Bhagwan Sri Krishna, the Lord of Prudence, in the great treatise on dharma, the Bhagavad Gita.

"The central point of the teachings is about exercising control over the mind and the direction it takes. And this has been well brought out." - THE HINDU
"All the 700 verses have a consistent metrical scheme. As you read them, the lines develop a swing of their own... Kev Nair... has made every effort to make his Gita suited for reading aloud, to be enjoyed to the fullest... faithful to the original... On the whole, the translation does not force you to see the Gita from a particular angle and then make you think that the partial picture is the complete picture..." - The New Indian Express
